Priyanka Chopra, a beautiful Bollywood actress was born on July 18th, 1982 on Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

Priyanka Chopra won the Miss World title in year 2000. Her nick name is Mithu or Mimi, but school mates called her "Sunshine". Her father is a surgeon in Indian Army; her mother is also a doctor. 

Priyanka grew into a multi-talented lady finding her creative joys in singing, writing poetry and short stories, but never ever dreamt of entering the showbiz world.

While Priyanka was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, she was raised in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Her family frequently moved since her father was in Army.

Priyanka did her schooling in Lucknow, and prepared herself for further study in USA, where she studied at Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts and North Delta Senior Secondary School in North Delta before returning to India to complete high school at Army School (Bareilly). She joined Jai Hind College in Mumbai to pursue degree course but left the college after winning Miss India title.

She didn't have much ambition for modelling or ever dreamed of contending in beauty contests. It was her father who sent Priyanka's photos to Femina Miss India pageant and she came as first runner-up in that contest. Then she competed in Miss World Contest and won that contest. She became the fifth Indian woman to win Miss World title, and the fourth Indian woman to win in a span of seven years.

After endearing Miss World 2000 contest she became the most sought after and dream girl of millions of people across South Asia. Priyanka is now flooded with films offers. Priyanka Chopra was nominated Sexiest Asian Woman of 2006 in Eastern Eye, an Asian newspaper published in Britain.

Priyanka Chopra began her movie debut with a Tamil film called Thamizhan (2002), but in the same year she made her debut Bollywood role in movie The Hero, followed it up with a movie Andaaz (2003).

Andaaz was a big success at box office. Priyanka won Filmfare's and Star Screen's Most Promising Newcomer award for that movie.

She has won number of awards to date for her performance in Andaaz, Aitraaz, The Hero, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Krrish and others. There was no turning back for her and she went on making great performances with varied roles in movies.

With age and talent on her side this dusky beauty has a long way to go in Bollywood.
